Access to computer and laptop after death
Computers and laptops are becoming increasingly secure. It’s practically impossible for surviving relatives to access them without usernames and passwords, without damaging files or losing access to the cloud or online services.
Digital Life Legacy focuses specifically on making Windows laptops and computers belonging to deceased individuals accessible. Using forensic equipment, among other tools, we legally access precious data without the risk of erasing the original data.
Option 1
The simplest solution is for us to reset the original Windows password.
This quickly restores access to the laptop or computer and the desktop as used by the original owner, allowing you to view all files stored on the computer, such as photos, movies, music, and documents. It’s possible that online services like email, Microsoft OneDrive, and/or Dropbox will no longer log in automatically, requiring you to have the username and password for those services.
This option is offered for €350.00 including VAT.
Option 2
Our advanced options allow us to recover the original Windows password, allowing access to not only local data but also online services like email and OneDrive. However, this can take several weeks to months, and we cannot always guarantee this with additional security measures like encryption. This option is offered for €575.00 including VAT.
We can also recover data if a device is broken, for example, due to a technical defect or fire or water damage.

This unique service is provided exclusively on behalf of rightful heirs. We will, of course, discuss all options, limitations, and costs beforehand. To unlock a laptop or computer, additional documents may be required, such as:
- Identification of the surviving relative
- Power of attorney (if applicable)
- Death certificate
- Certificate of inheritance

We can make the data from a laptop or computer available in several ways: by retrieving or resetting the original password. Additional services can range from copying the contents to an external storage device to a full forensic investigation in collaboration with a detective agency or other investigative partners.
In some cases, it has been possible to claim the costs of our investigation from your own home contents insurance. We can assist with claiming claims, but cannot guarantee anything.
